So long, farewell

Sєxqυιѕιтє threw a party for Picostyle writers

One year ago today I decided to start a blog about Pico for my own enjoyment. Little did I know that many months later - no doubt due to Peggy's social nature - that Picostyle would grow to be the voice of 7 writers that caught the attention of many Pico players.

To the writers, you grew this blog beyond my expectations and really churned out fun and exciting content that, I believe, set a standard. Whatever you choose to do in Pico beyond this, I hope it's exciting and that you use your talents to their maximum.

A special thanks to Peggy, who really became the heart and soul of the blog and drew the interest of writers and readers. You're a force to be reckoned with.

To our readers, I think I speak on behalf of Ayuhime, Gem Rock, Ora18, Peggy, Pinkerton, and sweet_mom (who left and started her own blog many months ago) when I say we hope we inspired you to see Pico from another perspective - funny, ranty, thoughtful, loving, criticial ... but always enjoyable to read. We appreciate you.

You ring our rooms, bring us food, leave us friendly messages and letters, feed our pets, and say "hi" when you see us out and about in Pico. You are super friendly and supportive, and you have made it all worthwhile. You even put our blog URL in your profiles! Words can't express the gratitude.

This past weekend on March 19, 2011 @ 10PM EST, Zye (Pico ID: Sєxqυιѕιтє) even threw a party for Picostyle writers! That was very generous. Thanks for that.

We'll still be around in Pico ... and this blog may very well alert you to other projects that Ayuhime, Gem Rock, Ora18, Peggy, and Pinkerton may be starting up in the near future.

And with that, we pass you on to the current generation of Pico blogs.

On the disaster in Japan..

Friends,

I want to take a moment and say a few things about the terrible earthquake and tsunamis that are devastating Japan at this moment. Thousands are dead and 80,000 plus are considered missing, and the numbers are growing. This is an extremely terrible situation.
We are praying for everyone's safety and hope that our fellow Japanese Picos are safe. If you are reading this and are living in Japan, please leave a comment and let us know of your current situation.

Thank you,
Picostyle

Profiles #31

Here is my selection of profiles I've stumbled upon during my days in Pico. These have no theme, of course, other than "Hey that's interesting [print screen]".
Hope you like them.

(1) Ha! Nicely said, Ms. Okana. No one likes "two-faced" people, especially mutants O_O. That's just creepy. Just don't get yourself arrested for doing such a thing, okay?

(2) Ohh, so philisophical! I like your style, man. I pondered this statement for many many days after I saw it. And it certainly is true, Lil Kwoom, because no matter what you say, they still won't like you.

(3) Oh ho ho, I remember in middle school that is was the coolest thing to doodle on your hands. Write your name, your friends' names, draw inappropriate pictures... But we got in trouble for that, you know! The teachers would make us wash our hands and arms because they were afraid we'd get ink poisoning. Well, I did TONS of doodling on my hands and I'm still alive! So keep doing your thing ChiSneakyVodka

(4) It is completely irrelevant what this person has written in their profile. HE'S THE PRINGLES MAN! THE PRINGLES- FREAKING -MAN! Maybe we should do a celebrity sightings on him? I dono, I took this screenshot back in September, as you can see. LOL

Lots of love,
Ayuhime

Get to know your bloggers: Pinkerton

Finally, the elusive and mysterious Pinkerton reveals himself! (Not in that way, c'mon!)

Unfortunately, it comes at a time so close to the end of Picostyle, but it's not too late, right?
Please see earlier entries about Catero, Peggy, Gem Rock, and Ayuhime!

Oh hey!
Q: When did you start Pico?
A: I started when it first opened up, which was around March 7th of 2010. Before that, I started playing Pigg in early 2009 with chikemuri.

What inspired your username?
This seems to be the question I get asked the most on Pico. I chose the name "Pinkerton" because it's the title of one of my all-time favorite albums, which was created by the band Weezer. While I think that Weezer's quality in music has dropped rather significantly since the release of that album, they still have a few gems here & there... but Pinkerton (and The Blue Album, for that matter) will always remain their most important and influential albums to me.

Is your personality like your Pico?
I'd say I'm actually more reserved in real life than I seem on Pico. Sometimes that side of me tends to show itself on Pico as well, but I always try to be as open as I can.

Favorite food?
Wow, this is a tough question. I love many different kinds of food, and there's still plenty that I'd like to eventually try someday. Oriental food and seafood are definitely up there, though, and you can't deny the greatness of comforting homemade food such as macaroni & cheese or fresh soup!

What is your ethnicity?
Russian/Polish/German/Italian!

And where in the world is Pinkerton?
US, over in the Northeast.

Pico Baby Language: Kwill Mwe Nwow

I get it, I get it. Picos like to role play. Some Picos are moms, some Picos are dads, but some Picos are babies and children. Somehow, someone, somewhere decided that babies and children MUST speak a certain way to signify their status as such. I know you've seen it... I know what the intention was, but I don't think it translated well among international languages... resulting in a very annoying trend.

Oh dear God...
Pico baby language works like this; place a "w" after every first letter. Swo twhis iws hwow iwt lwooks. Dwon't ywou jwust wwant two kwill mwe? lwol

In English, a baby-ish accent is to sometimes replace a 'w' sound in some words. Like "Mommy, pway with me!"
"I want ice cweam!"
"Pwease gimme my teddy bear."

The thing is, the 'w' replacement only works in words where the 'w' replaces a similar sound. Play and pway sound similar. In most cases, I could say it's only appropriate to replace r and l, as you can see in the examples above.

I went to a baby-speaking room to take a picture, and come to find, these people aren't very nice. They seem to be very clique-y.

--- You have moved to The Anime Room! :)
(13:31) Bwaby Katie: pwop hwer (meaning me)

(13:31) Bwaby Katie: swo she wont bwe ugly anymore
(13:31) あゆ姫 「AYUHIME」: HAHA whoa there
(13:32) Bwaby Katie: who r u?
(13:32) あゆ姫 「AYUHIME」: Ayuhime
(13:32) Bwaby Katie: watevew

I left before I got kicked, but sheesh! How rude!
Take it how you want, but I'm not a fan of baby language.

Ayu

Ayuhime, you may just have a twin in Pigg. I couldn't tell for sure since she cleverly concealed her identity as soon as I was onto her. But try to squint hard and look at her profile image! Coincidence? I think not.

The Profanity Filter: Too strict?

I'm not one to use swears on Pico very much, but I'm finding the profanity filter to be a little annoying in some circumstances.

Ugh, I have to type out that LONG sentence again!?
I swear that little annoying pop-up is going to get it someday. Here are some situations where I don't think it's appropriate for the profanity filter to be angry at me.

"Oh, that's exciting!" << Your post was caught by the.... OMFG WHY!?

that's exciting

( ̄へ ̄)

Honestly, that's pushing it a little.
Jerk is another word caught by the filter. Althought it's not a nice word, it's certainly not profane. Perhaps it's subjective but I really think the players on Pico can handle words like jerk. It's not like that's the only insult word ever.
"OH CRAP WHAT AM I GOING TO CALL YOU NOW THAT JERK IS CENSORED!?"

Here is a controversial issue with the filter. Lesbian is filtered out. Gay isn't. Hmm... Is there something profane about being a lesian, Ameba? I certainly don't think so. If someone wants to be a lesbian, let them. We support free love!

Of course, the male and female words for genetalia are filtered. But I ask again, what exactly about them is profane? Everyone has them (well, except certain special people. We still love you!).

So what's the real problem here? Kids nowadays know every swear that's in the book, so what are we trying to hide from them? Plus, the ones who caused the need for the filter in the first place were the crazy kids obsessed with the word F*&K and S#%T. If it's not one thing, kids will think of another way to insult people, so eventually by this logic, all words will be blocked by the profanity filter.

I just want to be able to type "that's exciting" without being scolded by the pop-up, dang it! LOL

Love,
Ayu

Bazooka my room!

In the midst of Pico frustrations, I logged onto Pigg to find many an update!

First of all, I warped to my friend's room to ring, as I usually do in Pico. Instead of the little bell dropping out, my Pico pulls out a FREAKING BAZOOKA and shoots confetti into the room.

Of course, it's to celebrate Pigg's 2nd anniversary. But can you imagine instead of people begging you to ring their room they instead asked "BAZOOKA MY ROOM! I BAZOOKA BACK!"? LMAO!

Just a thought, really.

Secondly, Pigg also has some really exciting places to go, too. Come to think of it, Pico hasn't gotten a new area in a while, has it? I'm not talking about the parks, they don't count. I mean... I think the last "new" place was Asukasa, am I right? Did you know that Pigg has outer space!?

YES, OUTER SPACE. LOOK AT IT!
Control Room!

You're killing me here, Ameba. Can we at Pico have an outer space? Or is Pico world still considered flat by Pico scientists? OH WAIT! I've figured something out!

Japan is considered years ahead of many countries as far as their technology goes, so is this Ameba's way of imitating that through Pigg and Pico? Pigg, because it is the Japanese version of the game, gets advantages and privileges while Pico is stuck in the past until we sail to Japan and force them to trade goods with us.

Conspiracy theory? Pinkerton is getting to me ...

Love,
Ayu

Happy Valentine's Day Again!

Engrish

I've been in a bit of a blogging slump lately, partly because of school, but it's time to get back into the swing of things! There are many updates to be told!

First of all, aren't you SO HAPPY that Gachas have finally slowed down!? I sure am! Now items that are free to purchase that are not chosen at random. LOL!

All of the heart-shaped items have certainly brought about the Valentine spirit. I am in love with the heart face-paint and it will surely never come off of my Pico.

How many hearts can you count? I got 63~

Even if pink isn't your thing, I'm sure you'll find something you love with the Heart Rock collection. The musical instruments are getting really detailed in Pico! I really love the drum set and guitars, so cute!

Love Week: Confessions of a Lip Fetishist

I have changed my avatar so so many times, but I am partial to picking special mouths for my Pico. I particularly adore the kissyface lips and snaggle-tooth mouth. Whatever you call them, you can find them on Picos everywhere.

Snaggle-toothed Peggy in Pigg!

Rockin' out snaggle-tooth style~

Kissyface seems unamused.

Ayuboy serenading a fellow kissyface

I'm not sure why I love these so much, but they're just adorable. Perhaps because they're so unrealistic is what makes them so attractive. "You got a purty mouth..."

Everyone has chosen so many good things to love, and I agree with all of them.

Love,
Ayu

The Picostyle team is pleased to announce a long overdue follow-up to October 2010's Rant Week. Love Week!

Guess what? We also want to hear from you, our faithful readers. That's right! Wowza

So, how many of you are living in the casino right now? Since the beginning of the Super Lucky Slot Campaign, I've gone from about 1000 casino money to 12,000 casino money in just three days. It is VERY easy to win at the slots, especially since the winnings are now worth x5 the normal amount. Finally, our insane wishes of getting a pet tiger are less unfathomable! Now if only I could win the Jackpot...

Who can resist?
Don't even mention bonus rounds, phew! Although, I am noticing more 0s in the present boxes than usual...
I always seem to get "0" as my first number... coincidence?

News: Clearing RhenJhennel's Name

The Body Snatcher

This is a story of body snatching.

About 2 weeks ago we received an email open that blew the lid off of he whole "Haters" post. In a plot twist like none of us expected, it was a little like an M. Night Shaymalan movie (before he created The Village, Lady in the Water and all his films that have come after); everything we had been led to believe was simply untrue.

Several of us received hateful room posts from a Pico named RhenJhennel ... and Ayuhime was upset enough to post about it.

News got around pretty quickly and RhenJhennel* himself contacted us - not with the same hate-filled rants on the room posts with his name, as one would expect. Instead, he replied to the whole situation calmly:
January 1, 2011 – 7:43AM
rhenjhennel* said ... hello owner sorry for that happen im rhenjhennel original rhenjhennel* in pico i didnt remember isend bad message against your blogs can you check correct spelling of rhenjhennel* Many rhenjhennel in pico using my character. I show your blogs when i search my name. I apology let me investigate this person. thanks and more power. sincerly rhenjhennel* Proud to be Pinoy Hotel2 Ps. to all follower of this blogs sorry for what happen.
He has very similarly named Pico accounts - RhenJhennel and RhenJhennel* are just two of the many. RhenJhennel, who left many mean-spirited messages in rooms of Picostyle writers, is a shared Pico account that many other people use. Bad, bad, bad idea.

In the email we received, a person who had the login email and password to the RhenJhennel account confessed to logging into it, and leaving the messages in order to discredit the guy behind the Pico and have people dislike him. We'll call this person "The Confessor".

The Confessor knew that rooms of Picostyle blog writers probably get a lot of visitors who read and leave messages on their room boards and that these visitors would notice mean-spirited messages ... and likely get uspet. The Confessor did not expect the incident to be published on the blog, gain more attention, and get a little out of control. But ... who ever does when they get caught up in a trail of lies?

Let this be a cautionary tale of what can happen when you share your account information with another person. Not only your account and all its clothing, furniture, and Ameba Gold get stolen, but your reputation can be trashed as well.

Do not give the email address and password of your Pico account to anyone.

Now, The Confessor contacted the team by email to confess. As a team, we have decided to publish this information, not only to follow-up to the whole incident, but to clear the name of RhenJhennel*.

We will publish the email from and the parts of the chat conversation with The Confessor. We have gotten permission from The Confessor to do this.

The Confessor's name and parts that they mention their identity have been removed to protect their anonymity. This person has sincerely apologized - not only by email to the team, but in a Pico-to-Pico conversation with Peggy Hill and Catero as well. This person has also said they will confess directly to RhenJhennel*. It takes a lot of guts to own up to wrongdoing.

Haters

I think I can speak for the rest of the Picostyle team when I say that we are honored to be part of the Ameba Pico fan-blogging community. As we've said before, we love our readers and try to include them into our posts as often as we can with profile submissions, "Pico Cribs" features, and of course advertising fellow fan blogs.

But yesterday, Peggy received quite a rude post on her room message board which read as follows:

"picostyle is a bad blog yuck become inspired by my better blog [URL removed] yuck ur blog. dont miss the chance 2 mk ur blog nc"

I'm sorry but that is just rude. It's bad taste to bash another fan's blog... Please know that we aren't the type to bash and make fun of other blogs. Sure, you might do things a way we don't like, but that doesn't mean our blog is better than ours. Sheesh!
Well, decide for yourself folks.

Love always,
Ayuhime xoxo

*Note: The poster's name and blog have been blurred out.

Mysterious Prank

With all the hubbub of the New Year Japanese items, Tokyo Japan is busting with Picos ogling at the shiny new things. Nakamise street of course has a few full servers, but I was curious when I saw that Sensouji temple was full with a waiting list of 75 people. Clearly, something big must be going on! I waited a good 15 - 20 minutes before I got in.

When I arrived, people were lined up at the stairs of the temple, bowing their heads off. I went around asking what they were doing and they explained that someone told them that if they bow to the Sensouji temple, it will give them Ameba Gold. Knowing it couldn't be true, I took a second look at Pico's official information releases and discovered in fact, no information about this event was mentioned. It's a fake.

This is quite a grand-scale prank! Whoever started it convinced enough people to make a mad rush for the temple and cause a substantial waiting line. Of course, Picos started disbursing once they figured out they've been scammed, but I'm quite impressed. The entire prank probably lasted a good two hours, but I consider that monumental in Pico history! A few users claimed that "Sugar Boy" started the rumor, but the only "Sugar Boy" I was able to find in a search had 0 friends and noob clothes, so he is probably not the culprit.

Let me make an official statement:
Bowing at the Sensouji Temple does not earn you Ameba Gold.

Sorry folks!

Lots of love,
Ayuhime xoxo

Pico Cribs #25 with AyuHime!

Our poor Peggy Hill is still a bit under the weather and has asked us to continue with Pico Cribs. I hope you enjoy my selection!

Room Owner: Redmoizzelle

Redmoizzelle's Bloodyred Palace is quite a sight! Hopefully you're not colorblind, because you're missing out on the splendor of this place. The entire room is dripping in red and certainly has an Asian Palace feeling, complete with throne and seating chamber. The owner has put so much work into make every little detail perfect and making sure it is in fact RED. Stop by and give her some rings!

Room Owner: Samantha你好想放假

Samantha's sky church is beneficent. With details abound, you're sure to be blown away at the beauty. The columns, staircase, altar, and balcony are simply stunning. No matter what you're celebrating, you will find this heavenly abode a lovely place to be.

Have a fun time ringing and exploring, loves!

Love,
AyuHime xoxo

Pico FAILS

I think we've all noticed the several Engrish moments in Pico. Here is one funny example. When you design a boy Pico, there is an option to add a beard. When you want to remove the beard, there is this button:

lol. Obviously, it's supposed to say "no beard." Or maybe there are no bears allowed in Pico? Thanks to The Hound for this! Check out his blog here to see more Pico FAILS and vote in his "What do you think of Indonesians?" poll.

Lots of love as always,
AyuHime xoxo
