Questions and answers about the blog closing

Since last month's announcement that Picostyle will stop churning out posts as of March 23, 2011, Ayuhime, Peggy and I have gotten quite a few questions from readers about why the blog is closing. Even sweet_mom has gotten questions about it ... even though she no longer writes for this blog!

To clear it up, I'll answer the most frequently asked ones ...

Why is Picostyle closing?
Everyone who plays Pico logs on during their leisure time to do something fun. I started Picostyle as a fun distraction in March of last year. Since that time it's become a lot of work and it's stopped being as fun for me as when I first started.

I'd rather spend my time doing something fun in my spare time. Wouldn't you?

So, for that reason, the blog will stop producing posts to leave time for fun pursuits.

Why don't you hand over Picostyle to Ayuhime, Gem Rock, Peggy Hill or Pinkerton?
I considered giving over the blog to someone else when I decided to close the blog. Obviously, it's not the option I chose.

This blog is something I started and it will be something that I chose to end.

Ayuhime, Gem Rock, Peggy Hill and Pinkerton are definitely talented enough to branch off to start their own Pico blogs on their own steam, if they so choose. It is something that we discussed as a team and we will keep you informed of whether Picostyle team members will be starting their own blogs in the near future.

Will the blog be deleted?
No. The blog will not disappear. Picostyle will remain public and you will be able to go back and read the old posts.

After March 23, 2011 no more new Picostyle posts will be published and comments will be closed ... though, I may use the blog to update you about any Pico blogs the other writers may start so that you can follow those.

What will happen to the Facebook group?
The Facebook group will remain open. If Picostyle writers choose to start up new blogs, we will use the Facebook groups to link you to new posts on those blogs.

Aren't you concerned that you're disappointing your fans?
Of course I am concerned about disappointing fans, but a life lived to please other people is no life at all.

What will happen to the Picostyle writers after March 23, 2011?
The simple answer is that we will enjoy the time we spend in Pico.

• Ayuhime and Ora18 have something in the works that we will notify you of at a later date.
• Catero will continue to write on the Pico Perfect blog.
• Gem Rock is taking some much-needed time off.
• Peggy will take time off and travel around the world and break hearts in every port.
• Pinkerton's next move is shrouded in mystery.

Please ask any other questions you have in comments, as long as they are appropriate they will be answered; otherwise, they will be ignored or deleted.

Q: When did you start Pico? 
A: I started when it first opened up, which was around March 7th of 2010. Before that, I started playing Pigg in early 2009 with chikemuri.

What inspired your username? 
This seems to be the question I get asked the most on Pico. I chose the name "Pinkerton" because it's the title of one of my all-time favorite albums, which was created by the band Weezer. While I think that Weezer's quality in music has dropped rather significantly since the release of that album, they still have a few gems here & there... but Pinkerton (and The Blue Album, for that matter) will always remain their most important and influential albums to me.

Is your personality like your Pico? 
I'd say I'm actually more reserved in real life than I seem on Pico. Sometimes that side of me tends to show itself on Pico as well, but I always try to be as open as I can.

Favorite food? 
Wow, this is a tough question. I love many different kinds of food, and there's still plenty that I'd like to eventually try someday. Oriental food and seafood are definitely up there, though, and you can't deny the greatness of comforting homemade food such as macaroni & cheese or fresh soup!

What is your ethnicity?
Russian/Polish/German/Italian!

And where in the world is Pinkerton?
US, over in the Northeast.

Don't you love Catero? Perhaps the most mysterious of the bloggy group, now we finally uncover some of his secrets! Plus, I totally love his new look! Very Nihonjin and very cute.

Q: When did you start Pico?
A: I started Pico in March of this year.

What inspired your username?
"Catero" has been my username for a while ... before I came to Pico.

Is your personality like your Pico?
Hm. I would say yes. Cranky, zany, dorky and a little bit brilliant (but not often).

Favorite food?
I have too many favourite foods to pick just one. I love Caribbean food, Mexican food, Ethiopian food, Chinese food (real Chinese food ... congee, hot pot and dim sum), North American food, Swedish food ... the list goes on. I will try just about anything once. No tripe, though. I'm not going there. But deep friend squid tentacles? Totally.

Are you a good role model for the kids?
No. I'm PG14+.

What is your ethnicity?
I'm Afro/Indo/Euro Caribbean.

And where in the world is Catero?
I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

We all love Peggy, don't we? She's always dancing, laughing, and starting new crazy adventures!

I totally love chillin' with this lady.She's a peach and is completely selfless when it comes to her friends. And if it wasn't for her, I might have not been a guest blogger on Picostyle! Horray Peggy!

Q: When did you start Pico?
A: March 2010, Catero made me join and I was like OOOH--- it's just like playing with legos but Sanrio Surprise puked all over the place!

What inspired your username?
LOL! I love love love LOVE Peggy Hill from the television show King of the Hill.

Is your personality like your Pico?
Yes! I'm as loud and outgoing as I am in Pico... maybe even more so if that's possible.

Favorite food?
Tacos! Fish tacos are SO YUM! I think it's because I'm Californian born and raised.

What is your ethnicity?
I'm Vietnamese... and as a Vietnamese person I can tell you without a doubt, Tiger Balm cures all ailments!

And where in the world is Peggy?
Right now I'm in California but who knows where I'll be next! I'm like Carmen San Diego, Asian Edition.

Q: When did you start pico?
A: I think I started playing Pico in the spring. At the time it was because I was looking for cute facebook games. To be honest I hated it.

What inspired your style?
I slapped [one] together because I didn't think I'd be playing for long, until I met Peggy. My Pico's style is inspired by all the street fashion and fashion news I read. :) My favourite fashion blogs are: Jak and Jil, and The Sartorialist. My favourite magazine is Elle. Stylist Joe Zee, stylist/fashion editor for Elle, is my hero :)

Is your personality like your Pico?
My Pico personality is me when I'm drunk :) and my Pico personality when I'm drunk is pretty illegible. (lol)

Favorite food?
Sushi.

What is your ethnicity?
Half Filipino Half Russian

And where in the world is GemRock?
Canada! (eh?)

Q: When did you start Pico?
A: Oh, May? I remember seeing screenshots of Pigg on my friend's Facebook and falling in love with the cuteness.

What inspired your username?
There's three parts to thi. One is that, I wanted a Japanese username because I have quite a passion for it. Second, I absolutely adore Ayumi Hamasaki so I borrowed AYU, and third, isn't it every girl's dream to be a princess? Hime means "princess" in Japanese! AyuHime!

Is your personality like your Pico?
Pretty much. I'm much more friendly in Pico. I can be pretty anti-social in person ... but that's just because I'm shy.

Favorite food?
Also sushi!

What is your ethnicity?
Irish and Italian descent.

And where in the world is Ayuhime?
Connecticut, USA.
